This is Who We Are:

The Office of Housing and Residence Life (OHRL) is managed by Century Campus Housing Management, L.P. (CCHM). As a fully functional department under the umbrella of University Services at George Mason University, we strive to maintain the positive and solid reputation we have built over the years as a vital center for the enhancement of student development. We work collaboratively with departments campus-wide to support the University's overall mission.

Meet Our Department:
The OHRL at Mason consists of residence life staff both professional and paraprofessional, facilities staff including maintenance and housekeeping personnel, and a housing services and marketing team. These areas are represented and supported by a central housing management team which includes the Director, Associate Directors and Assistant Directors for the department.

Your Assistant Director for Residential Education is another valuable resource to you during your college career. This staff member is responsible for developing initiatives that contribute to the residence halls' academic environments. She/he works with faculty and staff through the implementation of academic support programs such as the Mason Topics Living Learning Programs, University 100, and other Special Interest Floors.

As a student you will best have the opportunity to get to know the residence life staff in your housing area. This includes your Resident Advisor (RA) who is a student staff member living on your floor. Your RA facilitates community development in your area from programs and activities to performing various administrative tasks to assist the management of the residence life program. Your RA is a valuable resource who will assist you in finding answers to your questions and challenging you to grow.

Your Resident Director (RD) is a full-time professional staff member who resides on campus and assists the Area Coordinator in residential living management. She/he works closely with students, supervises RAs and works to create an educational environment that is conducive to studying, learning and personal growth.

Your Area Coordinator (AC) is also a full-time professional staff member. This person is responsible for the overall management of your housing area. She/he directly supervises the Resident Directors in your housing area and is responsible for managing the development and implementation of educational and social programming, interpreting policies and procedures for students, facilitating room changes, RAP, serving as a liaison to other campus agencies and addressing student behavioral issues and concerns.

Two more full-time professional staff members that are helpful for you to meet are your Assignments Coordinators. There is one Assignments Coordinator for freshmen/first year students and one for upper class students. These Housing Services staff members manage the room assignments in the housing areas. They meet with residents as needed to discuss the housing assignment process. You will likely see your Assignments Coordinator staff member facilitating presentations during your summer orientation session and during RAP.
