The Office of Housing and Residence Life (OHRL) is focused on a team approach. Our professional staff are committed to strengthening the living learning connections between residents and the academic community. As a partner in privately managed housing, we support the overall academic mission of the University and are directly linked to other campus agencies while operating under the umbrella of University Services.
The OHRL represents a high energy team of staff with many years of combined professional experience in housing, residence life and student affairs. We strive to create a comfortable, supportive, caring and professional yet casual office environment for our students and co-workers. We are dedicated to improving the lives of Mason residents and maintaining the quality of service we have provided for years as a center for student development. We invite you to consider joining our team!

The Patriot Center and Center for the Arts host a variety of events from large concerts to athletic competitions. We're Growing!
Mason is growing! We are opening the new Chesapeake area during the 2007-2008 Academic Year. This new multi-purpose area will house over 1,000 residents, offer several dining choices, and provide a fitness and recreation center. This area will open in phases starting in Fall 2007.
About the Area
Mason is located blocks away from the historic district of the City of Fairfax in Fairfax County, Virginia. The opportunities for local, ethnic and chain restaurants, shopping and recreation are plentiful. Community involvement in local traditions like Celebrate Fairfax and the Chocolate Lovers Festival are important and there are numerous fitness centers, libraries, museums and golf courses to name a few interests. The Vienna Metro Station is only a few minutes drive away. Public transportation is available on campus and around Fairfax. Overall, Fairfax provides a small town atmosphere with all the luxuries of the surrounding metropolis.
Mason is ideally located 25 minutes from our nation's capital. Cultural opportunities are endless with the amazing selection of museums, theaters, music venues, eclectic restaurants, shopping, sight seeing and other similar attractions. The historical significance in Washington, DC is unmatched by any city in the country. Mason's proximity and connection to this wealth of history, culture and social opportunity will become real to you when you take a short drive east on "Rte.66" or hop on the "orange line" at Vienna and find yourself in the heart of "downtown." ![]()
