Residence Life Conduct Board (C-Board)
The Mission of the University is supported when students take responsibility for their behavior, both in and out of the classroom. In a community of learning, willful disruption of the educational environment and interference with the rights of others cannot be tolerated. Freedom to learn can be preserved only through respect for the rights of others.
Goals of the C-Board include maintaining civility and fostering an academic learning environment, correcting misperceptions about social norms, promoting an understanding of the rights and responsibilities of students, instilling a sense of accountability for individual behavior, and an appreciation of the impact of student choices on their community.
Therefore, as a means of bringing this vision to fruition, the Residence Life Conduct Board retains the right, responsibility, and the authority to:
• Adjudicate allegations of misconduct
• Determine whether a student is responsible for a violation of Housing policies based on a preponderance of evidence (more likely than not)
• Recommending disciplinary and/or corrective sanctions for violators
Applications for the C-Board are located here. Please contact Ms. Hortense Rascoe at hrascoe@gmu.edu or 703-993-2720 with questions or comments.
